Arthur Abe was a junior at the University of Washington in 1941. He and his family were incarcerated in Puyallup and Minidoka. He left Mindoka and enlisted in the Army. After the war Art returned to the UW and in 1948 earned a degree in business administration. He later also earned a BS in electrical engineering. He spent his career at the Veterans Administration in New York City, Civil Aeronautics Administration in Seattle and as a systems analyst at Boeing.

Art married Aiko Kay Yoshihara in 1954 and they had four children: Carolyn, Michael, Janet and Norman. Art and Kay also raised three foster children.

Arthur K. Abe died on August 13, 2015 in Seattle at the age of 94.
