Yukie Fukuzawa attended the University of Washington as a Bacteriology major through Winter quarter 1942. She eventually earned her BS in nursing from the University of Minnesota in 1946. She later worked at various hospitals in Minnesota and Wisconsin before returning the the Pacific Northwest. She served as an Associate Professor at Pacific Lutheran University.

In 1943 she married Kiyoshi Yumibe and had five children. She wrote a memoir, From Cherry Blossoms to Strawberries which is available at the Kitsap Regional Library.
