The UW Libraries has an extensive circulating collection of feature films from Russia, Eastern Europe, the Baltics and Central Asia in VHS and DVD formats.

Most items are available for 3-day checkout from the Odegaard Media Center (Seattle campus) and the UW Tacoma Media Center. Films held by the UW Bothell Media Center must be viewed there and cannot be paged to the Seattle campus.

The Odegaard Media Center provides several specially equipped VCR and DVD players for viewing materials in PAL (non-U.S.) format. Ask at the service desk for directions to PAL machines and assistance using them. Materials in NTSC (North American) format can be viewed on most home equipment. These and other international films can also be found in the UW Libraries online catalog by searching in the “Genre/Form” index for “Foreign language films.”

To request a Russian or East European film that you don’t find in this database or in UW’s online catalog, write to slavinfo@u.washington.edu This database is updated approximately every three months; UW online catalog data is updated continuously.
